The EBI/EIE is partner in the CICERO Erasmus+ Project 2018-1-SE01-KA204-039051. Currently the EBI/EIE team is develloping IO #2, the ECH Database.
This is the first screen shot of the webpage hosting the database of the “European Cultural Heritage Image Database”.
This is an outcome of the CICERO project and will offer CC-4.0 licensed pictures of typical European Heritage. The images are free to use (except for commercial use) and will cover various topics representing the treasure of European Culture.
The European Commission describes European Cultural Heritage as
“… a rich and diverse mosaic of cultural and creative expressions, an inheritance from previous generations of Europeans and a legacy for those to come.
It includes natural, built and archaeological sites, museums, monuments, artworks, historic cities, literary, musical and audiovisual works, and the knowledge, practices and traditions of European citizens.
Cultural heritage enriches the individual lives of citizens, is a driving force for the cultural and creative sectors, and plays a role in creating and enhancing Europe’s social capital. It is also an important resource for economic growth, employment and social cohesion, offering the potential to revitalise urban and rural areas and promote sustainable tourism.”
Images for this database are taken from the upcoming photo contest that will take place in the frame of the project as well.
The Greek partner in the project – Challedu – developped the logo for the project. This project aims to support the adult educators at designing, delivering and promoting more attractive and inclusive education for all generations of adult learners.
Partners in this project are Escuela Oficial de Idiomas Madrid-Villaverde, Spain; Challedu, Greece; ASSOCIAZIONE CULTURALE EDUVITA E.T.S.. Italy; Europäische Bildungsinitiative / European Initiative for Education, Austria and Ecological Future Education, Latvia. The project coordinator is Fundacja Alternatywnych Inicjatyw Edukacyjnych from Poland.
The European Initiative for Education (EBI/EIE) will impact with the specific knowledge about Flipped Learning 3.0. Here we will use results from the Flipped Adult Education project where the EBI/EIE is project coordinator.
The EBI is partner in the project “Education for All” (More attractive and inclusive education for all generations) that starts officially with December 1st, 2020. The coordinator Fundacja Alternatywnych Inicjatyw Edukacyjnych invited the project partners to a first virtual meeting where the partners could see for the first time, present their organisation and start the communication process. Aims of the project
The general aim of the project is to support the adult educators at designing, delivering and promoting more attractive and inclusive education for all generations of adult learners.
Participants and target groups
The direct target group of the project includes the members, workers, co-workers, educators and volunteers of the Third Sector adult education organisations (i.e. Civil Society Organisations, including informal groups, Non-governmental organisations and other non-profit organisations). The indirect target group include wide range of education – related organisations, institutions and decision makers.
The EBI is partner in the Youth Project Seminar for intercultural trainers in HRE. The EBI/EIE is mainly focusing on the 50+ generation in Adult Education. Participating in this project we have the chance to educate our younger trainers to work with international youth groups and younger adults. Two of our trainers, Stefanie Mayrwöger and Kathrin Zehrfuchs, will be in charche to cover this target group.
SemiFit in HRE is an example of Peer and Lifelong Learning where educational practitioners have the chance to share their competencies and experiences and learn new concepts from peers. In SemiFit, every participant is actively involved in the preparation and design of the learning space: content and flow. The project is linked to key European youth policy developments where non-formal educational youth work needs to be better connect. Additional the project also brings in its expertise: upcoming European Youth convention III in 2020, COE rec on Youth work, European Training Strategy for YW, the development of a European Charta on Youth work, the further development of the European Youth Strategy, but also reference cooperations such as “becoming a part of Europe”, “Youth for Human Rights” all indicate youth issues become more political. Such there is a need to foster strategically the processes of capacity development of EDC/HRE work in the field of youth, as in the recent years barriers in a lot of European countries have become higher.
Stefanie Mayrwöger from the EBI/EIE will participate at the training event organized in Almuñécar, Spain (Málaga area) from 1 to 6 December 2018.
The EBI/EIE signed a cooperation contract with the Flipped Learning Global Initiative (USA) for the new project about Flipped Adult Education.

Jon Bergmann and Errol Smith wil be personally involved in the development of the project’s results. The impact from the FLG and the knowledge collected by the pioneers of flipped learning will enrich the project and care for high-level results.
We got the official Erasmus+ Partner Plate for our new project “Flipped Adult Education”.
The project will start with November 1, 2018 and run until October 31, 2020. The “Flipped Adult Education” project FADE-in takes a look at the horizon of educational developments and takes in account the innovation of the last ten years. This causes to shift the training methods and training activities. Simple onsite teaching courses or technology enhanced blended learning courses must be brought to the state of the art.
Thought to its very end this should be active teaching, a heutagogical approach with self-determining learners, the use of multimedia and a change of the roles of trainer and learner. The trainer will act more as a facilitator of the learning, the learners will use technology to create self-directed learning. The consortium calls this a flipping of learning following the ideas on Jon Bergmann, published in his book Flipped Learning 2.0 (addressing Vocational Education and Training).
For Adult Education (EA) flipped concepts do not exist and are not yet published. Therefore, the consortium of 4 completely different AE providers is going to develop these concepts in a versatile way and to publish the findings in an eBook (as OER to contribute to open education).
The objectives of the FADE-in project are to develop a course concepts to adult learning using a flipped approach. This means active and self-directed learning, to “flip” the roles (Trainer => Facilitater, Learner => Self-determining adult with self-responsibility for their learning (heutagogical approach). The Global Flipped Learning Initiative (GFLI) with Jon Bergman (the developer of Flipped
Learning) will be an associated partner in the project and impact with the state-of-the-art knowledge and experience of “flipping the learning”.
